GIFTS FOR ISLAMIC WEDDING

Do you have to attend a Muslim wedding and are looking for ‘best Islamic wedding gifts’ particularly personalised Islamic wedding gifts, wherein the names of the bride and the groom are mentioned alone with the place and date of wedding? Such gifts derive their Islamic value from the calligraphy of verses from the Quran on the gifts. The verses talk particularly about the essence of marriage, which will be discussed later in this essay.

Marriage is a vital event in anyhuman being’s life – it is an aspect that comes equally with duties and privileges as well as responsibilities and benefits. So much for all the romance and comfort that it involves, the marriage also means hard work and sacrifice. Which is why Allah has specified instructions to husband and wife in the Glorious Quran.

Allah says in Ayat 21 of Surah Al Room (Chapter 30 of the Quran): “And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.”

Allah helps the couple by placing between them love and compassion. Therefore, it’s now the responsibility of the man and the woman to optimise this blessing, and shower upon one another affection and mercy. Without these crucial elements, it would be difficult to find peace in each other, asignifant goal of marriage as is evident from the ayat.

In the 187thayat of Surah Al Baqarah (Chapter 2 of the Quran), Allah says, “They (your wives) are a garment for you and you are a garment for them.”The use of garment to describe spouses has been explained by commentators. Similar to the physical closeness between the body and the garment, the man and the woman should be close to each other in the sense that they should express with one another their fears, concerns, worries, anxieties and secrets without any mistrust between them. Similar to how a garment protects our physical self from dirt, grime and vagaries of the climate, so should a man and a woman protect one another from the evils of the world. The way a garment covers our physical beings, including our private parts and physical injuries/marks, so should a man and a woman cover one another’s faults. Like a garment adds beauty and grace to us, so should a man and a woman in marriage add grace to each other’s persona. Finally, the metaphorical use of garment for both husband and wife as garments suggests equal responsibility both towards each other.

Without doubt, Allah has elucidated the importance of marriage in his Holy Book. Sharing a wedding-specific verse from the Glorious Book, written in calligraphy, and framed, with a just-wed couple – this could be a rare, lovely wedding gift indeed.
